The patient, a 45-year-old woman underwent a bilateral arm lift (avulsion brachioplasty) combined with liposuction. She had lost a little less than 150 pounds over the past 3 to 5 years and she was tired of the extra skin on her arms. She found Dr. Isakson and they talked about her options. Because of her weight loss and skin character, liposuction alone was probably not going to achieve her goals. After a long conversation they decided that getting rid of that flapping arm skin would be worth the possibility of a visible arm scar. The procedure aimed to address excess skin and adipose tissue on the arms. Six months post-operation, the after photo illustrates a notable reduction in the circumference of the upper arms. The skin appears more contoured with visible tightening effects. A surgical scar is present, indicating the incision line, which is an expected outcome of this type of procedure. The overall shape of the arm shows improved contouring consistent with the objectives of avulsion brachioplasty and adjunctive liposuction techniques.
