Case Notes
This case involves a 48-year-old female who underwent a series of surgical procedures including bilateral breast augmentation using cohesive gel implants placed submuscularly through inframammary incisions, and a tummy tuck with muscle repair and umbilical transposition following significant weight loss. She knew she had a challenging issue so she contacted Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Matthew Isakson for a consultation. The breast augmentation aimed to increase the breast size from an A cup to a C cup. The abdominal procedure addressed excess skin and tissue in the abdomen, flanks, and waist areas. Four months post-operation, the images exhibit an enhanced breast profile with increased fullness and improved contour. The abdominal region shows a more defined waistline with reduced excess skin, contributing to a more streamlined silhouette. These results reflect some of the limitations of a traditional tummy tuck in massive weight loss patients - a vertical midline scar (called a fleur-de-lis pattern) would help with some of the side-to-side skin excess above the belly button but would have resulted in a long and difficult to hide scar. This shows a compromise of technique and outcomes - but still an outstanding result that achieved this patient's goals. Look at that incredibly natural looking belly button! Nobody can tell she had a tummy tuck even when she wears her new bikinis!
