Case Notes
This case involves a bilateral breast augmentation performed on a patient who was borderline for requiring a concurrent breast lift. After having three kids and deciding that was enough, she started looking for board-certified plastic surgeons and found Dr. Matthew Isakson. They discussed her concerns and her goals - she felt a little saggy but mostly just too small in her cleavage - and she did not really want any scars on her breasts if they could be avoided. DR. Isakson reviewed some of the compromises of a breast implant without a lift in somebody who is "borderline" - no control over the areola position or shape, and the lower pole of the breast may still be a little "extra." Even with these compromises, this mom has an outstanding improvement in her cleavage (exactly what she wanted!), without any additional scars on her breasts. The procedure utilized Allergan smooth round SSF full profile 450cc cohesive gel implants. These were placed submuscularly through inframammary fold (IMF) incisions - good luck finding those well hidden scars... Two months post-operatively, the images exhibit an enhancement in breast volume and contour. The positioning of the implants under the muscle has contributed to a natural slope at the upper pole of the breasts, while maintaining the original base width. The IMF incisions used have allowed for discreet placement of scars. This approach has achieved an augmented yet balanced appearance, respecting the patient's initial anatomy and proportions.
